Monday Musings
A collection of my favorite ideas, art, people, and things from my exploration of the internet this week
Mondays in December can be long and dull and full of indigestion, depending on what holiday events preceded it. Therefore, sometimes I like to drop a bright spot on here with lovely little somethings I’ve found in the last week, that I think you all might enjoy as well. There is really no other connecting string between these except that I liked them, and you might, too.
On the coldest day so far this winter, I bumbled into a local Tatte Cafe on Friday afternoon and, being cheapish, decided to get soup for lunch, and got their tomato basil soup with a roll. I cannot emphasize how delicious it was, some part of it intrinsically to the food itself, but likely also due to the contrast of the bustling cafe and hot soup compared to the frigid temperatures outside. It’s sending me down a rabbit hole for my own tomato basil recipe with homemade bread, and you know I will share that once tested.
I am tall-ish, and being only leaning towards tall, I always have had issues with getting pants and workout pants the right length that I can still wash without them shrinking. During the black Friday sale, I got these in olive and have worn and washed them already a few times, and not only are they long enough (tall size), they DID NOT SHRINK. It’s also just nice to be able to workout in something sometimes that isn’t just purely claustrophobic spandex.
Every winter, I re-listen to this episode of Poetry Unbound, and it teaches me how to love winter again. I present to you the magic of Padraig O’Tuama’s voice and this lovely lovely poem, i’m going back to Minnesota where sadness makes sense. Episode here.
This article about an illustrator who I’ve known by her art for years but have never known the name to the art. The image above is by her, as well as my post today on Tik Tok. Kanako Kuno’s art is like if there was a children’s book that somehow pg-ified Sex and the City. It’s a delight.
I hope you all have a lovely start to your week, and as always, thanks for being here and thanks for supporting my writing!
Cheers,
Margaret
