My good friend told me about this free app called ScreenZen that has limits and prompts to help with unhelpful screen time. It has significantly cut down on my doomscrolling and my neurotic email checking as I navigate being on the job market. I have a streak of 41 days meeting my app access goals. Highly highly recommend!
Resonated with me a lot. I try to find that balance as a creative, whose income depends on what I share on these apps, and how to protect my mental health. I love your list.
One very random, but also very specific thing that drew me to you was that light pink shirt with the tiny bow that you would set out for your workouts. It didn’t look new, it looked like something any of us might have in our drawer, but you had displayed it routinely and I noticed. It was cute and fun and I wanted one, but also it told the story that rewearing and making something desirable out of what we already own is normal, cute even. Thanks for letting us see into your life as you continue to explore these ideas.
oh my gosh wow, thank you for remembering. It's always so interesting to think of the little things each of us do online or off and how we don't know how those little things impact or are made sense of by others! thanks for commenting :)
Love this! A couple of months ago I logged out of all my social media. I decided to log back in the day before TikTok was “banned” and I have fallen into the doomscrolling spiral again! I will definitely be adding these tips into my life!
One of the biggest things I admire about my dad is that he wears the same 3-5 shirts. I'm learning to look for more of this energy in creators that I follow. Our time and money is really better spend on the people and things we love, and I think too often consumerism culture makes us lose sight of that. Thank you for a great read :-)

it's always a balance as a creative, and I feel like the metaphor of surfing the wave rather than ever coming to a set of rules is what I'm coming to
i’ve put timers on tiktok so I can’t go on after midnight and before 10am and I can’t go on for more than 2 hours a day….and it definitely works!!
